Can they put it together?
On paper the nets have the components in an emerging star in Cam Thomas, a healthy Ben Simmons, a rising efficient role player in Cam Johnson, vets like Dorian Finney-Smith, and Bojan Bogdanovic, a brute force and potential double double machine in Nic Claxton, and of course a great veteran floor general in Dennis Schroder. In retrospect they have the guys to compete but the main issue is that everyone gets injured and throws off the team dynamic. Loosing Mikal Bridges hurts the nets for sure, a well rounded scorer who was putting up career number in 2022, and 2023 as well as a pest on defense the Nets now look for other ways to make up for it. Will guys like Zaire Williams and Day'ron Sharpe step up and will them to the playoffs? Dennis Schroder needs to step up on offense. As the floor general of a less than average team he needs to average more than 14.2 points a game as well as 6.0 assists. Ben Simmons needs to elevate his game back to what it was there so no reason that he should be averaging 6.0 points per game. He needs to at least double those near and get back to averaging close to triple double numbers like he was doing in Philly. Cam Johnson needs to get his three point percentage up from 39.1 % as well as getting to the line more than twice a game. With the absence of Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson needs to man up put the ball on the floor and get to the rim.
